Back
Axel

An edge jump invented by a Norwegian skater, Axel Paulsen. The Axel is the only jump
launched while a competitor skates forward. It's one of the most difficult jumps because
it takes an extra half revolution for the skater to turn around backward for the landing.
Therefore, a "single" axel has one and one-half revolutions in the air. The jump takes
off from the forward outside edge and is landed on the back outside edge of the opposite foot.
