His name is spelled in many different ways like Evgeny, Evgeni, Jewgeni, Eugeny, Yevgeny and so on. The reason is that when you translate it from Russian letters it can turn out differently but no spelling of it is speciffically wrong.

I myself had difficulties to figure out the "right" spelling as I first came to the internet in the year 2000, I saw many of it. I had to decide for one as I made my website so I went to all sites and even looked at tv how it was spelled there and I mostly saw "Evgeny" so I decided for that one. To get to one overall spelling Evgeni was asked how he wants to spell his name and decided for "Evgeni" and you could say the spelling of his name is officially "Evgeni". He gave me the below autograph, as you can see he also writes his name with an "i", so there is no doubt about it anymore.
