On the first day when the skaters presented their short programs Zhenya didn’t appear on ice. The next day he showed the last year’s program. He turned out to have hurted his knee, probably meniscus, skating during the off-season time. After the conference of specialist doctors Evgeni was allowed to fulfil light-duty applications. So now he has to forget the immense sport plan about which he told correspondent of “Dni.Ru”. However we started talking about the last season, which was very successful for Evgeni not counting the Russian Championship. Evgeni had to miss it. “I fell ill. I had a temperature. My nose bleeded for two days nonstop. I had a foot pain and muscles twisting. Then suddenly everything was over. I recovered. Of course it was difficult to skate, I didn’t feel anything. Nevertheless that was a brilliant season on the whole. I won Euro Championship.., for the third time I guess. World Championship, all the Grand-Prix stages and final Grand-Prix as well. I did clear cascade 4-3-3, combination with triple flip. I mean I did the elements nobody had been able to do before.” Q: Is it possible that Igor Korneliuk (who composed the music for his St. Petersburg 300 program) will compose your short program music? Evgeni: Certainly! Not only for the short one. Perhaps he will compose music for the free program also. Igor is an amazing person and wonderful composer. We want to cooperate with him. Q: When Korneliuk was talking about his composing the last year’s music he told he disliked remixing his products. Nevertheless he made five different versions for Alexei Nikolaevich! Evgeni: He told you he did only five? Actually there were much more. We didn’t like one thing, then another one etc. It was unconvinient to run up or we had to stress the moment after the jump.. In a word there were a lot of reefs. Q: Igor told he had a dream: you sing a song composed by him and he skates instead of you. By the way you have such an experience – in the Chupa Chups commercial... Evgeni: Francly speaking I have no voice, I’m a very bad singer. It’s something terrible and awful. So when I was told I had to sing in a commercial... Well, I did, evertything was ok. Having come back from the USA I saw the video and couldn’t get why there is me on the display but the voice belongs to Misha Yuzhny! Q: What do you think of risking to sing once more on the show some day? Evgeni: Well, I believe Igor is capable to skate. And I will never sing. Q: I know you are fond of paint ball. Do you go in for it for a long time? Evgeni: For three years I guess. I have my own semi-proffesional pistols. I like it very much. I dream of developing a large sport program for myself. For example one day you devote to tennis, another one – to golf, then football, hockey, swimming... Figure skating will be the first of course. Q: I heard nothing about your being fond of hockey! Evgeni: Last winter I used to play a lot. I was a forward. When in the USA I appeared on ice fully equipped. It was dashingly cool. Q: What about continuing your career playing hockey? Evgeni: You know, I thought about that. But I have a bad command of the stick. Besides I wish to win the Olympic Games. They will take place when I’m 24 already. To start playing hockey when you’re 24.... Q: So you quit after Turin? Evgeni: No. I can’t say anything for sure.
