March 22, 2003:
Evgeni is in DC at the moment. He is very confident and looking forward to skating in the World's Championships.
In practice he has been successfully completing a 4 Lutz.
It is unfortunate timing that the world championships and the war came together at this point.
Evgeni's heart goes out to all innocent lives and he hopes that the world will be better place in the future.
On a lighter note, Evgeni just got brand new Mercedes 500.
January 28, 2003:
Evgeni did more than skate in Malmö. He played soccer before and after the competition. One game was played by the press center and the next day all the newspapers had pictures of the soccer game.
Evgeni also was very popular in Malmö. After the competition everybody was waiting for him at the press center ...and waiting and waiting....... It seems that Evgeni stayed behind at the rink signing autographs for about an hour until the last fan was satisfied. THEN he went to the press conference.
October 7, 2002:
This is a quote from Evgeni following the Campbell Classic in Daytona:
"Hello Everybody. I am sorry I am not ready for this competition. I was injured again after the tour. I went to practice and jump triple axel and the next day when I woke up I could not walk. My left ankle was so big and hurt. I went to the doctor for injections and could not skate. I only skate 10 days before this competition, so its not good. But my ankle is better and I can work now hard. I make a new number with 2 new choreographers. They are ballet dancers from a famous theater in St. Petersburg and they are really good and they teach me everything new. I think it is cool and you will like it. I hope."
Also of interest, on the Sunday after the competition Evgeni and Ari (Zakarian) went to the beach and when they were in water up to their waists they saw a shark!! It was swimming close to them so they came running out of the water.
May 23, 2002:
Evgeni has been rooming with Alexei Polischuk (acrobat) and they have become good friends. They play tennis all the time on days off and they watch Russian movies on long bus rides and play cards. Evgeni also plays golf on his days off with Michael Collins and Artur Dmitriev, who are both very good golfers. Evgeni is going back to St Petersburg during the break from tour in the beginning of June.
Evgeni isn't doing the Michael Jackson number on the COI tour after all. He was working with Ari in Florida at the beginning of tour but there wasn't enough time to complete the program. He does like it and thinks maybe he can use it next year.
Here is a quote from Evgeni: "I still skate Carmen because I wasn't able to finish another program in time. And it is important for me to keep doing my jumps like in Carmen. I think audience is happy with this. I hope you like it too."
April 7, 2002:
Evgeni is currently skating his Carmen number on tour but is working on a new number. He was going to do a comedy number to a Britney Spears song where he was dressed up like a girl but then he changed his mind. He is now working on a new number that Ari Zakarian is choreographing for him. It is a Michael Jackson song and it should be ready in a week or so.
Also, he has a fake tattoo of the Olympic rings on his ankle and a skate blade. He got a temporary one to see if he would like it
March 12, 2002:
Evgeni is injured and will not be going to Worlds. He injured his knee. It is not very serious but he needs to stay off it for awhile.
Quote from Evgeni:
"I am sorry I will not be competing at the Worlds but I feel too much pain in my knee and I don't want to get bigger injury. I will rest my knee and get ready for Champions On Ice tour in United States. I love to be on the this tour, so I will take time to get ready. I hope everybody can come see me skate there."
February 17, 2002:

February 7, 2002:
"Hello Everybody,
I am training in Logan now with all of Russian team and we go to Salt Lake City today. I am so happy. I want to be here. I feel good and skating everyday good in the practices. I hope you like my new long program. I try to make everybody to like it. I appreciate (new word I learned) you support me. I try to make you happy."
"After competition I want to try snow board. I never ski before and probably Mishin will say I don't do this but I want to try. I think it is fun. Please everybody watch competition and I will try to do my best."
October 31, 2001
Evgeni just bought a new car, a silver AUDI S4. "I love it because it is a sportscar and it is sooo fast. Driving in Russia is very different than in the States, we don't have much rules and we can really drive how we want. But I am not dangerous, so nobody has to worry about that.
Evgeni will be skating at the New Year's Show in Garmish, Germany.
"I love to do shows because it is more fun of course than competitions. I can enjoy the audience more and not to worry to much about judges. People are always so nice at both shows and competitions but I can not always realize this at a competition because I am concentrating so much."

MESSAGE FROM EVGENI "I want to tell all my fans in United States how I feel so sad about this terrible disaster and I hope that nobody was hurt or had any friends who was hurt. I never imagine something so bad happening in the U.S. I love U.S. and send everybody all my good wishes."

Evgeni just came back from his hometown of Volgograd, where he spent some time off with his friends and family. He drove there with his parents and two dogs in the car....20 hours! He has two dogs, an English Bull Dog and an American Bull dog, one named "Golden" and the other named "Zheka" Evgeni will be coming to train in Minneapolis, Minnesota with Mishin for a few weeks. His Grand Prix assignments are same as last year, Nation's Cup in Germany, Cup of Russia, NHK Trophy in Japan and Goodwill Games.
