The doctors in the intensive care suggested that Zhenya should be treated by the antibiotics of the fourth generation and a regular drip bulb. Evgeni’s cousin Dmitri lives near the hospital. This fact has been crucial in deciding which hospital to choose. Besides the prices in other medical institutions are extremely high. For instance in Kremlin hospital one consultation has cost him $300. In 36th (the number of the hospital) Zhenya has a bathroom and a TV set in his room. The nurses are taking good care of the precious star. The next day after his arrival Zhenya’s mother Tatyana Vasilievna took a flight from St. Petersburg. She was so stressed that she herself required treatment. Fortunately enough she was soon ok and left the hospital to stay at relatives. Evgeni’s elder sister could not come and visit him in Moscow as she is in the hospital as well. Ulyana, Zhenya’s girlfriend has been with him all the time. Evgeni’s cousin Dmitri (ex-hockey player, currently a businessman) supplies him with all the necessary medicines. Zhenya and Ulyana are watching videos. His favorite movie is “Bolshaya Peremena”(a Russian movie). He is generally fond of old Russian classic films and hates American action-movies. His preferences in literature include history books and masons’ works. By the way Zhenya has his own spiritual father, father Alexei. Evgeni likes Moscow. He is considering making his home here. He has already bought a piece of land next to his brother some 170 km away from Moscow city. Zhenya’s coach A. Mishin is about to settle down nearby too…. Plushenko said that he is feeling alright at the moment and that he hopes to recover very soon. He also thanked all the fans for their support. Do Not Disturb Zhenya! (Interview) Aleksey Lazarevich (A.L.) was on duty when Plushenko arrived to the emergency unit: A.L.: We, as an emergency hospital, serve everyone. We did not hesitate in case of Plushenko who lives in St. Petersburg and who doesn’t have Moscow medical insurance documents. His condition was quite bad . He’s now on his way to recovery. Temperature decreased to 37 degrees. No surgeries are being planned, only therapy. Evgeni asked me not to give away information about his complaints; the only diagnosis I can name is otitis and pneumonia”. As soon as Plushenko arrived at the hospital both his coach and the doctor of the national team came along. His girlfriend Ulyana is with him all the time, his mom flew over, his cousin visits him quite often. We are doing everything we can in terms of treatments so that Zhenya gets well as soon as possible. I cannot say exactly when we will be able to let him go home. Interviewer: Can I leave the flowers? A.L.: Bring them when Zhenya will be leaving, he does not need them at the hospital. They might provoke an allergy. His relatives provide everything that is necessary. I had a couple of phone calls from officials of high rank asking if they could visit Evgeni. I insisted on postponing all the visits. (At this moment a nurse enters the room saying: Alexei Viktorovich, groupies are all around again shouting “Plushenko!”) A.L.: Good job, they even figured out where his window is! Please ask the security to explain to the girls that it’s better not to disturb Zhenya at the moment. Article by Nadezhda Shulgina Translation by Elena (thanks!) |
