April 9, 2003:Two articles of the "ABC Sports International Figure Skating Challenge" saying that Evgeni did one quad (two footed) and doubled the lutz. Also he still suffers from a knee and a hip injury from falling on a quad salchow in the Worlds practices. Evgeni said :
"It was really hard because I skate all season, I win everything, it’s the last competition of the season. It’s so hard.", "In all my competitions, I won the short program and the free program. All first places is very good,
and this was more special, because I won the world championship a second time."

He won this competition where the skaters only showed one free skate. What a great way to end the season!! No more details yet... April 6, 2003: On the first shows from Champions on Ice in the USA beginning from 4. April Evgeni did the Clown number and on the next day apparently from reports his St. Petersburg 300 program. March 30, 2003:At the World Championships exhibition, Evgeni did a new funny number to rock n' roll music.
He came on ice with a huge costume and a big mask wich looked like himself. He looked like a clown, the costume had purple-orange colors. He skated awhile with that costume and mask.
Unfortunately exactly during his performance the tv broadcast got interupted for over a minute so I didn't saw all of it. After the interuption he already took off the huge costume and the mask and had purple pants and an orange shirt on. Later on he did a triple Toeloop and straight line footwork. He looked very happy, no sign of he is injured. At the encore he did a 3 Toeloop - 3 Toeloop combination and a very fast scratch spin at the end.
It was a very funny exhibition. I think he is going to use it at the Champions on Ice tour wich begins at 4. April in Baltimore, USA till 1. June. More info on this site: www.championsonice.com
World Championships Results:
He wasn't totally flawless but not surprise though because he suffered from a knee injury. He did first the combination 4 Toeloop-3 Toeloop-2 Loop (shaky landing on the last jump), 4 Toeloop, 3 Axel, 3 Lutz, 3 Axel-1/2 Loop - 3 Flip (sshaky landing on the flip) 3 Loop, 3 Salchow and of course the Biellmann spin at the end.

March 25, 2003: Evgeni has won the short program!! 4 Toeloop-3Toeloop, clean, 3 Axel, shaky landing, 3 Lutz.

He skated to Carmen and could do again the 4-3-3!!! Also 3 Axel - 3 Toeloop, 3 Salchow, 3 Axel, 3 Flip, 3 Lutz, 2 Axel.
His marks: Evgeni said: "We came here one week ago, I’m feeling good here, the hotel is nice. My left knee is still hurting. I don’t feel it when I’m just skating, but it hurts on the toe, on the Salchow, Axel and in the spins. Now the Russian team doctor is treating it with compresses and salves." It was his 103th performance of Carmen!! 93 times at Champions on Ice, twice exhibition at Art on Ice, free skate at Olympic Games, exhibition at Olympic Games, free skate at Campells, exhibition at Bofrost Cup, exhibition at Cup of Russia, exhibition at European Championships 1st free skate at GPF Final, qualification free skate at World Championships. March 24, 2003: Sad news, Evgeni has inrured his knee in practice :-( but he says he still can skate today in the qualifying round. He practiced today his short program to "Adagio". Everything seems to go well! Gran Prix Final Results
March 2, 2003: Evgeni skated "Sex Bomb" again at the exhibition of the Gran Prix Final and as a second performance to vocal music of the original soundtrack of "Criminal St. Petersburg".
Quotes from Evgeni at GPF: "I'm tired but it was great pleasure to skate at home in St. Petersburg. I skated Carmen during the Collins tour 93 shows and so I felt this program really well" "The best thing today was to do the quad-triple-triple combination. I felt calm and confident out there, it was great to skate at home. Now there are two weeks left to prepare for Worlds. I hope to do the combination again and maybe another quad."
March 1, 2003: Evgeni won the Gran Prix Final and got very high marks, looks like he skated his very best, he got 6 times the 6.0 in presentation!!!

I was really short of breath and I don't know why. But I'm very happy with my free skate." Tomorrow will be the final free skate where he skates another free skate "St. Petersburg 300" wich he dedicated to his hometown St. Petersburg where GPF takes place, it will be something special.
Feburary 5, 2003: On Feburary 6-9, Evgeni will be at the exhibition Art on Ice in Switzerland, he plans to skate again to live music, it will be probably like last year at Art on Ice that he may show this exhibition number just there. Art on Ice will be on Swiss tv "SF1" on Feburary 15, at 20.05.

At the victory ceremoney he received his medal but took it off immediately to kiss it and to show it to the audience and kissed it again. He looks very happy and proud.

His marks: January 18, 2003: Evgeni greeted the New Year for the first time in nine years with the whole family, his sister and her daughter came from Volgograd to celebrate. Usually he celebrates birthdays and New Year at competitions. Before that he said he was in excellent condition but suddenly he got the flu and was two weeks ill. Now he prepares for the European Championships wich will be from January 20 - 26 and the qualification rounds were cancelled so he will start with the short program on January 24th and the free skate on January 25th. It will be live on TV on Eurosport. On ABC they made a short interview: Peter Caruthers asked if he feels he is the best male skater right now. December 13, 2002: Evgeni won the "Crest Whitestrips International Figure Skating Challenge" in the USA today. The skaters just showed one free skate and he got one 6.0 in presentation, looks like he had a fabulous performance!! November 23, 2002: Results of his free skate at Cup of Russia: Evgeni won! He had a very good skate, he got a 6.0 in the technical mark!!! He did a 4 Toeloop - 3 Toeloop - 3 Loop combination!!!. He made figure skating history! The other jumps were:

November 12, 2002: I am back from the Bofrost cup and it was so fabulous seeing Evgeni skate such wonderful programs live!! He showed two new programs and had also two new costumes. I took a lot of photos again and they will be later on this site, it will take me a lot of time to scan them because I only have the negatives and no real photos myself and scanning negatives takes always a lot of time but it is a lot cheaper. I don't have all my films developed yet, I made a lot of films but not all photos will come out well, I will put the best on this site. Also I still don't know if I have enough money right now to pay the developing, so it can take till December till I can show you all photos but I think it is worth the wait. November 6, 2002: Note: There will be no updates during the Bofrost Cup because I will be there till November 11. I hope I can bring back a lot of great photos and reports. October 6, 2002:Evgeni did compete at "Campbell's International Figure Skating Classic" in the USA on Saturday and finished second to Yagudin. Evryone had to skate one free skate and Evgeni skated to Carmen and fell on a quad. The first competition where he probably shows both new programs is the Bofrost Cup from November 8 - 10. September 17, 2002:Evgeni got an award from the city of St. Petersburg for outstanding archivement. The award was sponsored by the Northern Capitol Community Council. Alexei Mishin: Thank God, Plushenko has gotten much healthier. Last year, he had injury after another. Maybe you can ask him to show you his leg sometime: it’s covered with injection-scars. Right now Zhenya is resting in Turkey. On September 10th, we’ll begin preparing for the new season. We’re putting on a new short and free. In the short program, Zhenya will play the roll of a struggling philosopher, and I’ll save the details of the free for later. August 28, 2002: This site http://www.usfsa.org/news/2002-03/tixdayt-onsale.htm is saying that Evgeny will be at Campbell's International Figure Skating Classic in the USA on October 5th. Probably the first competition Evgeny will participate this season. Seems like he is going to this competition instead of the exhibiton in Poland. August 20, 2002: News about the exhibition in Spain at August17th: Carmen who went to the exhibition reported that Evgeni skated his new short program to classical music, unfortunately she can't remember what piece of music it was. He wore black pants and a white shirt and no gloves. He seems to work now very hard on his new programs. August 14, 2002: Evgeni will participate in the exhibitions at his summer training camp in Jaca/Spain at August17th. August 11, 2002:Today Evgeni is doing his last Champions on Ice show and after COI he goes to Spain to train for the next season. I expect photos and reports of his last COI shows! Also he said that he is working on a new free skate and short program. He wanted to keep Carmen but decided for new programs for the new season. He also likes to play a bit ice hockey now. The whole interview here. June 18, 2002: Evgeni is right now very successful at the Champions on Ice tour in the USA with his Carmen program, he gets lots of fabulous reviews!! He plans to skate Carmen for the whole tour till the last show of August 11.

At the exhibition today Evgeni skated first the second half of "Carmen"
and as an encore the second half of "St. Petersburg 300". He was fabulous so full of energy
and was smiling all the time, he had a great connection to the audience.
At Carmen he did a 3 Toeloop, 3 Loop with ease, donut spin and a unexpected belly slide over the ice,
amazing straight line footwork and a fast sitspin and scratch spin. At the St. Petersburg 300 part he did a Biellmann spiral
straight line footwork, so fast and powerful, combination spin including a perfectly executed Biellmann spin.
In this exhibition his artistry was just breathtaking beautiful...
January 25, 2003: Evgeni won the European Championships!!! He had a fabulous clean skate and received two 6.0's for presentation! He did not
risk all the difficult elements, he did at the beginning a 4 Toeloop-3 Toeloop combination then a 3 Toeloop, 3 axel, 3 Lutz, 3 Axel-2 Toeloop, 3 Flip and 3 Loop. The program
included also a donut spin and a Biellmann spiral, the audience went wild at his Biellmann spin and especially after his great straight line footwork he had the audience on his side.
His movements are 100% to the music and very dramatic and expressive. You get easily lost while watching. This performance of him remembered me somehow of Worlds 2001, the same thrill
and totally fascinating! After the program Evgeni said: " That was my best clean program, I want to skate much better. I want to do my combination and another quad. Maybe a quad salchow."
January 24, 2003: Evgeni is first after the short program at the European Championships
but wasn't flawless, the quad Toeloop was perfect and he went as usual for the take off of the 3 Toeloop and totally unexpected he
kind of slipped off with the edge and made one rotation. It was very odd, I never saw that from him. But after it a fabulous 3 Axel. Then the
circular footwork was great, sometime in the middle he almost stops and does very slow steps
and he goes on, he got some applause after the footwork. Gorgeous 3 Lutz out of steps very
secure, low fast centered sitspin, change foot, and straight line footwork, so SMOOTH
expressive movements, donut spin, combination spin with a beautiful Biellmann spin, 4 full
rotations. He skated very, very expressive and got almost all 5.9's for it in the presentation
marks. Tomorrow is the free skate.
