A little report from Artur Dmitriev's show from Julie:For the first time Zhenya skates his new short programm. It is Flamenco. He has a simple black costume with some sparkles. It is very elegant. The program is beautiful, sometimes he dances very slowly, but during the footwork he is very fast, and it is very beautiful! After it he gave a very short interview. He was asked if was goin to get married , he said "I'm not going to get married, it is lie! Girls don't believe in it! Don't worry! Everything is ok!" Well, then he skated his new free program. It is wonderful!! The music is live - Edwin Morton plays the violin. Zhenya has the old costume from Adagio Albinoni. The music is perfect! It's like Paganini. I like it very much. Some movements are like from Adagio. He made all the jumps rather good, he didn't fall. As an encore he skated his free program once again (almost all the programm)!!! Today he skated very very well! October 11, 2003: Evgeni skated yesterday at Artur Dmitriev's show both of his new programs! The short program is flamenco and the free skate is dedicated to the Russian ballet dancer Vaslav Nijinsky. After Evgeni skated his new free skate he skated almost the whole program as an encore! October 10, 2003: Today Evgeni will skate at Artur Dmitriev's show "The Ice Olympus" in St. Petersburg and this ARTICLE says he will skate to live violin music from the famous violin player Edwin Morton and he will show his new program. You can even see a video when you click on the blue writing at the article under the picture. Also according this ARTICLE Evgeni will participate in the "International Skating Challenge" on December 5 in the USA. October 7, 2003: On Oct. 4, Evgeni skated at Victor Petrenko's charity show "Victory for Kids" with his St. Petersburg 300 program. Here are two photos: (click on photo to enlarge)
October 4, 2003: An ARTICLE about yesterdays competition, Evgeni has still a knee injury but nevertheless he landed two quads, 4 Toeloop then 4 Toeloop - 3 Toeloop and another 6 triples. His marks are:
Tech: 58 58 58 58 58 Evgeni said: "It was very difficult because I am injured, I did not skate for two weeks. I'm so happy I did a good job at the beginning of the season. I feel strong, actually, but I am not 100 percent." A photo on this site. October 3, 2003: Evgeni won his first competion this season the "Campbell's International Figure Skating Classic"!! He skated to "St. Petersburg 300". His marks are all 5.8 in technical merit and 5.8-5.9 in presentation! Second is Timothy Goebel. October 2, 2003: Evgeni has arrived in New York to compete tomorrow at the "Campbell's International Figure Skating Classic". He visited a baseball game for the first time, here is an ARTICLE September 20, 2003: Photos of the show of Irina Lobacheva and Ilia Averbukh where Evgeni participated on Sept. 11-12. He skated to "Town wich doesn't exist".
http://amasluzhniki.narod.ru/Sport/JarShow2003/JarShow-1Eng.html September 19, 2003: According to this site www.sportspb.ru/index.php?news=3037 Evgeni will take part at Arthur Dmitriev's (double Olympic pairs Champion) show "Ice Olympus" on October 10th in St. Petersburg. There will be two programmes - one starting at 12 pm and the other (the main one) at 7 pm. The performance which starts at 12 pm is free to attend for children-invalids, children from boarding schools and war veterans. Also Evgeni is listed on the sites of "Art on Ice": www.aoi-lausanne.ch and www.artonice.ch to participate at the shows from Nov. 28-29 in Lausanne and Jan. 22-24 in Zürich. But if Evgeni can participate on all shows and competitions as listed in his Schedule is not sure, he suffers from an knee injury wich he got at "Prince Ice World" in late August. Hopefully he recovers soon...
September 16, 2003: In a recent interview at the Russian skate test (where Evgeni skated his short program Adagio PHOTO), Evgeni's coach Alexei Mishin talked about the new season, Evgeni's health and the new scoring system: Originally from:http://www.rambler.ru/db/news/msg.html?mid=3782692&s=9 Q: Alexei Nikolaevich, what happened to Plushenko, why was he absent on Tuesday? Alexei: The thing is that Evgeni got an injury several days ago. Q: Did that happened when he was training? Alexei: No, it happened when he was skating at a show. He executed the path of steps and caught one leg with the other. On examining his foot thoroughly the doctors decided not to force the events, because they were concerned about his meniscus. Q: Does that mean that Plushenko will not be able to perform in his best way during this season? Alexei: No. Our task is to gain the victories. What other aims can have the skater who didn’t lose a single competition last season holding a record? Moreover he won all the competitions, the final Grand-Pix, Euro and World Championship including. Q: What can you say about Evgeni’s new programs? Alexei: I will say nothing in advance. The only thing I can tell you that the Short program is of a “classical” type and the Free one is something new and uncommon. Q: In the end of October several Grand-Pix phases start. In which of them are you going to take part? Alexei: Skate Canada, Skate America (??) and Cup of Russia. Q: Three important contests plus other competitions.. Will Evgeni be able to recover having such injury? Alexei: The doctors say he will. Besides we shall do some breaks between the performances. Q: What did your pupil do during the off-season time? Alexei: He had a rest in the Health Center, then went to Turkey and finally came to me to Spain. Q: What can you say about the new refereeing system where each element will be valued separately? Alexei: It’s very difficult to comment on this statement at the moment. Nevertheless I think this system is Ok for Evgeni. Let’s take into consideration several positions: artistry - Evgeni can borrow someone a little bit of it. Technique? No problem. Besides new, uncommon elements will be valued. As it is known Evgeni can do some very special, his best-known numbers. Like Bilmann’s spin with his leg vertically up. No other male can do that. So I think the new system is favorable for Plushenko. In any case we don’t have to wait for a long time to find out everything August 21, 2003: Evgeni skated today in Japan at the show "Prince Ice World". He showed "Adagio" and "St. Petersburg 300". From: http://www.ne.jp/asahi/lemonvodka/evgeny/main_page/site_menu_e.html August 10, 2003: The Russian "Sobesednik" Magazine (from August 6) reported that in the last weeks, Evgeni was on vacation with his girlfriend Uliana in Sochi (it is a resort at the Black Sea, it's Russian territory.) and in Turkey. Evgeni said they rested very well, they walked, swam, become sunburnt. In Turkey they went to Turkish baths, he liked it very much. The bath and the massage is the best way for him to restore forces after training. He is happy for his diploma at Lesgaft, he said that they give him five marks so it felt like waiting for his marks at skating . Now he trains for the new season and talked about that he will include difficult jumps in a program. In his free time, he will go to the theater and concerts with Ulliana and his mom. Next Evgeni will be at the "Prince Ice World" in Japan on August 21-24. Here is the poster of it. July 20, 2003: Evgeni will participate in a charity show of Victor Petrenko, "Victory for Kids" on October 4th in the USA, Danbury, CT. More information on this site: www.cmmskating.com. One day earlier, Oct. 3rd, Evgeni will be at the Campbell's International Figure Skating Classic, also in the USA, New York. July 2, 2003:This japanese site: http://www.junko-y.com/iceshow/G.htm says that Evegni will participate at the skating show "Prince Ice World" on 21 - 24 August, in Japan, Tokyo. June 6, 2003:Evgeni's skating show took place today very successfully, reports say that the arena was sold out and he skated to live music of Igor Korniluk. Here is a first photo, taken by Lena. May 27, 2003:Evgeni's Gran Prix events are: Skate Canada, Trophee Lalique and Cup of Russia. More info in the Competition Schedule. May 15, 2003: In a break of Champions on Ice, Evgeni went home to St. Petersburg to promote his own skating show wich will be in St. Petersburg on 6. June. On this show will be just Russian skaters like Alexei Urmanov, Alexander Abt, Elena Berezhnaya/Anton Sikharulidze, Irina Slutskaja, Maria Butyrskaja and Irina Lobacheva/Ilya Averbuh. Evgeni said he will skate to live music of Igor Korneliuk who sings by himself. He already composed the music to Evgeni's last free skate.

Yesterday the ABC International Figure Skating Challenge was broadcasted on ABC TV network, the competition took place last month at 8. April, and Peter Caruthers did a little interview after Evgeni's skate:
Q: That was a rough competition, Evgeni not the standard we used to see you perform out there what happened? Evgeni: I am so tired. It is the end of the season and I just relax right now and actually I am so happy. I win everything this year, all competition. Q: What is your plans for the summer and beyond that? Evgeni: Well, after this, I am going to COI tour in United States , then I am going home, to rest a little bit, like one month and then we are going to Spain, Holland, we have seminars there and to prepare for next year, prepare new combination new quadruples. Well, good luck to you and when we'll get to see your girlfriend Yulyana? Evgeni: Well, I hope so very soon . April 23, 2003: Evgeni is doing great at the "Champions on Ice" tour!! He seems to decide only to skate his St. Petersburg 300 program there.
