Champions on Ice

Report by Michelle: June 16, San Diegeo, TX: First off all I can say is WOW what a great program. Evgeni looked relaxed and happy, he did two triple combos- one triple lutz-triple toe and the other was a triple toe-triple toe. He two footed a triple flip but came back with an amazing triple axlel and also threw in a double axle as well. His footwork flew across the ice and his final spin was incredible. I pointed out to everyone in my section that he skates faster than most of the other skaters and this guy behind me who had never really watched skating told me that it looked like Evgeny just floated above the ice without touching it. Three ladies behind me were Yagudin fans and I told them a brief story of Evgeni's life and they immediately agreed to help me yell. I told them about his hair and how it looks when he skates and they watched and said "wow look at how his hair flows just like he does across the ice". When the whole show was done, the ladies behind me said that Evgeni had the best performance of the night! All of his jumps looked so "on" it bodes well for the upcoming year I think. Do ya'll remember when he used Slavonic Dances for most of COI and then went on to have an AMAZING year. I hope that history repeats itself...
