This exhibition is Evgeni's first own skating show with just Russian skaters, here is Yulya's report who was at the sold out show in St. Petersburg wich took place at June 6th :
The show was SUPERB!!!!!! The cream of figure skating!! A
lot of skaters used out Russian music. Zhenya skated
Carmen in the first part (in his usual Carmen costume), then to "St. Petersburg 300"
and another program to the music of “Town wich doesn’t exist” (in his St. Petersburg 300
costume). He skated ABSOLUTELY GREAT!!!!
I’m not good at jumps, so perhaps I’m wrong, but he
seemed to do 4-3 in Carmen and 3-3-2-2-2 in the other program. After
his skate he said that he’s very happy, that we (the
audience) are best in the world, that he loves St. Petersburg
so much, then he introduced Korneliuk with words
“Igor, you’re the best”, Igor answered “Zhenya, YOU
are the best” and the audience naturally cried “Yes!!!
Exactly!!!” etc. Igor was singing "Town wich doesn't excist" and Zhenya was
skating to it. But even three programs were not enough for
the audience! It wanted Zhenya again! And of course
he came. He skated on his belly as it was at Euros.
And then he made such a move with his hand as if he is
creeping. Very funny!
At the end of the show Zhenya and Mishin among other
skaters and coaches (Moskvina) were awarded with
something.
To the practice Zhenya came with his girlfriend. We gave him
our presents, he said “Thank you so much”. He was
dressed in a light brown sweater which fitted him
perfectly! And on the practice he cared about little
Arthur Khill so nicely! He said to the kid to bow just
for two sides and the boy really did it on the show. I
can tell you that little Arthur was wonderful! So nice
a boy and so artistic as a skater! Well, naturally,
he’s Mishin’s pupil…
The arena was absolutely full! To say the audience
took skaters very good is to say nothing! Screaming,
cheering, crying, applauding, total adoration!!!
After the show poor Zhenya left the Ledovy Palace the
last because he probably waited the fan crowd near it
became less. His mom stayed about 5 meters near us and
became nervous and even phoned him. I see her well.
The fans were really wild there.
